John Pearson
1st Vice COMMANDER
John Pearson serves as the First Vice Commander of The American Legion Post 262, bringing strong leadership, community involvement, and a deep commitment to veteran assistance. He has been a dedicated member of the Post since 2024 and has served as First Vice Commander for the past year.
A retired United States Navy Chief Petty Officer with over 22 years of active-duty service, John served aboard multiple ships and shore commands throughout his career. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm (1991) and was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal in recognition of his service.
Following his military career, John continued his service to both the nation and his community. He is actively involved with multiple veteran organizations and serves as a dedicated volunteer at his local church. Professionally, he works at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division, where he applies his military experience to support technical advancements for the active Navy fleet. His contributions earned him the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award as part of a specialized advanced project.
John is a devoted family man, married to his wife, Maria, for over 44 years, and the father of four children—two of whom have volunteered at the Post. His strong family values are reflected in his continued commitment to service and community.
As First Vice Commander, John works closely with the Post Commander and fellow officers to support ongoing initiatives, contribute to key committees, and strengthen Post operations. He remains committed to the continued growth, stability, and future success of The American Legion Post 262.
